Sale Notes

There are many strong areas within the forthcoming fine art sale.

Perhaps the most notable of all the furniture pieces on offer is a mid 19th Century mahogany Pepys bookcase (FS15/806). The bookcase has acanthus carved cavetto cornice and a nine pane glazed door, with moulded ovolo astragals, two real and two false brass escutcheons. This lovely piece of furniture has a pre-sale estimate of between £2,000 and £3,000.

Also, within the furniture section, there is a stunning solid English walnut extending dining table by Peter Van Der Waals (FS15/793a), which has an estimate of £4,000-£6,000.

The silver section of the sale does not disappoint, with a pair of Charles I silver flagons being offered (FS15/117). Each is of a cylindrical form with shallow domed hinged lid and pierced thumb piece. It is inscribed 'St Stephens' and oval cartouche initialled K I M 1664. With a pre-sale estimate of £15,000-£20,000, these are sure to attract alot of interest.
