Sale Notes

The forthcoming sale of Fine Art auction has some very strong sections throughout, but perhaps the strongest of all is that of Chinese Porcelain.

Amongst the highlights is a Chinese blue and white dragon dish (FS13/338), which is painted with two five clawed dragons in pursuit of a flaming pearl amongst cloud scrolls. The reverse is similarly decorated and has a six character Guanxu mark. Measuring 44.5cm, this good quality dish is expected to fetch between £3000-£5000.

Another highlight is a Chinese porcelain bottle vase (FS13/346), with raised flaring neck, enamelled in the famille rose palette with a pair of birds in flight. This beautifully decorated vase is expected to realise £500-£700.

In the picture section of the sale, a painting by Thomas Luny (1759-1837) of Teignmouth and the Ness with fisherfolk on the shore (FS13/22) is inviting bids between £4,000 and £6,000.

Also in the jewellery section of the auction, there is a stunning diamond mounted single stone ring (FS13/191), the central diamond estimated to weight 2cts, which has a pre-sale estimate of £2,500-£3,000.
