Sale Notes

Please note that this was scheduled for Tuesday, 20th March 2018 but moved because of the bad weather. The printed, page-by-page and PDF catalogues still have the original date.

The forthcoming sale is a large affair held over two days and starting with 150 lots of jewellery with the star lot being a platinum and three stone diamond ring (EX204/146) estimated at £800-£1,000 – it might well be the kind of bribery required if some of you engineers want to spend some money later in the sale.

Day Two features a real labour of love in the form of a scratch built live steam Showman’s Traction Engine (EX204/1450) that carries a similar estimate of £8,000-£12,000.

However, if that is perhaps out of your budget, there are also a&nbs[;number of early tin plate toys including a very crisp boxed Mercedes Benz 300SE (EX204/1520) and at pocket money prices there is virtual ‘shop full’ of Corgi (EX204/1056), Dinky, Schuco and Conrad die cast toys.

For those of you for whom size is important, there is a radio controlled pond yacht (EX204/1013) which at an impressive 6 feet in length should satisfy the biggest of children out there.

Nestled between the jewellery and the collectors’ items and toys is the usual offering of paintings, furniture, works of art and ceramics, which includes a David Leach stoneware coffee service (EX204/335) and a Belleek porcelain preserve pot and cover (EX204/297) in the form of a traditional hive, both of which would brighten any morning breakfast table.
