Sale Notes

The next Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood Antiques & Interiors Sale begins at 10:00am on Tuesday, 12th September 2017 and among the various good quality decorative lots are a pair of early 20th Century RA Lister & Co£, coopered oak planters, or jardinières, each with brass loop handles and measuring 28cm high The good clean lines and quality construction should appeal to interior decorators and the estimate for the pair is £80-£120. (EX192/367).

Another 'pair', so to speak, with a similar estimate are the handsome 18th Century French-style ormolu and marble side ornaments, which have all the look of the French Empire with draping swags and lion masks.(EX192/291)

Three items of 250 year old Nanking Cargo porcelain are grouped together in one lot with an attractive estimate of £50-£80. The infamous Nanking Cargo (EX192/48), from the Dutch merchant ship Geldermalsen, which was sunk in The South China Sea and raised in 1985, consisted of tens of thousands of pieces of largely blue and white Chinese porcelain that was used as ballast on the voyage. The porcelain section of the sale also includes a number of groups of Tek Sing Cargo recovered by the Maritime Salvor Mike Hatcher. These groups of saucer dishes and bowls have estimates up to £100.

Among the picture section in the sale are a very decorative modern pair of oil paintings of clowns by William Moninet and these have an estimate of £80-£120 (EX192/231) and there is also a more traditional watercolour of Cut Hill Dartmoor by Frederick John Widgery and this is estimate at £200-£300 (EX192/225).
