Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's specialist Maritime Auction continues to increase its International following with items for niche collectors and buyers around the world. This year the sale should not disappoint with items such as this Siebe Gorman 12-bolt diving helmet used by the Superintendent of the maritime section of Plymouth Dockyard, Estimate £3,500-£4,500. The sale covers a range of disciplines from traditional seamanship with hand painted sailors chest's to the luxury of Ocean liners tableware of which both attract collectors to their various charms. Included in the sale are a number of interesting sailors woolworks, ships bell's and related items such as the 19th century Meghribi brass Astrolabe, Estimate £800-£1,000, as well as a Regency circular brass Lord Nelson commemorative tompion, Estimate £400-£500. Britain's love affair with the sea and its Naval history will always provide interesting pieces in the sale like the pair of Third Reich period 7 x 50 Kriegsmarine binoculars by Ernst Leitz GmbH, Wetzlar liberated from U-3008 at the end of WWII.
