Heading into an Easter weekend with the potential of snow seems a gloomy prospect. However, Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's sale of Antiques and Collectables, including Silver and Jewellery, on Wednesday, 11th April 2012 is a brighter outlook in more ways than one.

A Clarice Cliff Melon (Picasso fruit) pattern plate is an excellent example of the vibrant colours used by Clarice Cliff in her designs and should easily achieve its £80-£100 estimate. Clarice Cliff collectors will also be attracted by the Crocus pattern preserve pot and the more unusual Clarice Cliff 'Erin' pattern milk jug and sugar bowl, £40-£60 and £80-£100 respectively. A George Jones majolica strawberry dish is another example of the bright colourful pieces of majolica made by this well known Victorian maker. Despite missing the bird handle, the quality of George Jones work should help it achieve its estimate of £100-£150.
