Biography of artist Mackenzie Thorpe (b 1956)

Mackenzie Thorpe was born in Middlesborough and studied at Cleveland and Byam Shaw College of Art in London.

Thorpe set-up the Arthaus Gallery in Richmond, North Yorkshire in 1990. His works are associated with a principle of Art from the Heart - combining tenderness with fervency through his stylised pictures of children and animals.

An auction record of £9,000 was paid for his work The Family at Tennants in 2009.
