Biography of Air Commodore Herbert George Brackley (1894-1948)

Herbert George Brackley (1894-1948) was working for Reuters in 1914 in their Paris office and obtained his flight certification in 1915. After post war plans of setting up an air service for Reuters fell through, he attempted a Trans-Atlantic flight in a Handley Page but was beaten in the attempt by Alcock and Brown. In 1921, he joined the British Air Mission and served as Air advisor to the Japanese Naval Air Arm.
