Biography of the artist Henri Jacot (1796-1868)

Henri Jacot (1796-1868) was born in 1796.

Jacot is first recorded at Rue Montmorency 25, Paris in 1833 working with his brother Julien Jacot, before moving along the road to number 31 by 1852 where he died in 1868.

His business was taken over by his nephew, and Julien Jacot's son, Albert Jacot under the guidance of his father.

Henri Jacot, Paris, a brass carriage clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a gong with the original platform lever escapement, the backplate stamped with the serial number 6266, giving a date of manufacture of circa 1888, with the dial-plate stamped with the oval trademark for Jacot listing the numerous exposition awards, the last stamped being 1878, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, typical Jacot inner ring and blued steel spade hands, the brass Corniche case with a three-bail carrying handle to the top, complete with numbered box and key, height 15cm (handle down), 18cm (handle up).

Henri Jacot, Paris a gilt-brass carriage clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a gong with push button repeat, the backplate stamped with the Jacot trademark, a parrot on a perch, along with the serial number 9191, with a silvered platform lever escapement, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and typical Jacot inner, the gilt-brass corniche case with carrying handle to the top, height 18cm (handle up) 15cm (handle down).
