Biography of pottery painter Charles Ferdinand Hurten (1822-1901)

Charles Ferdinand Hurten (1822-1901) was a German artist born in 1822 who studied in both Cologne and Paris before eventually joining the Copeland pottery factory in England in 1858.

Hurten exhibited his superb flower painting at the International Exhibition in London in 1862. He remained at Copeland until the late 1890s.
